5 Key Takeaways on the Road to Dominating Organizations

Guide to Animal Rights

Animals, being conscious and responsive, have some similarities with human beings. Animals respond in different ways and if you ask pet owners, they can tell you that each animals is unique, precious in its own identity, and they should be cherished and protected. There are people who think that animals cannot feel pain or because their intelligence is lower than human beings that they should not be given the care and nourishment that most pet owners generously give to them.

There are many people who believe that animals have no basic right to life that they deserve. There are other who believe that humans are above all animals and makes a moral distinction between them. There are also those who don’t believe that animals feel, sense, or experience like humans do and that they should not be give a status equal to humans but lower than them. The wrong sense of righteousness and entitlement has influenced these belief systems. When the cognitive biases are overcome, the reality that all animals do have rights becomes significant.

Living in a clean, safe place where they can survive is another right that should be given to animals. Humans have been known to wreak havoc on some sensitive ecosystems in the world like turning rainforests into flat plains and coral reefs into ocean deserts. If we destroy the environment for human gain, then we are also destroying the only places which animals can call home. That is why animal rights and the green movement are closely linked to each other.

Using animals for products is perhaps one of the most disconcerting displays of human greed that has grown in popularity. Economic incentive makes this people think that it is alright to kill animals for the sake of gain. For example, elephants are killed for their tusks, sharks are killed for their fins, and other people who kill animals because of the commodity they get from it. A dollar sign has now replaced the basic rights of animals to live. Viable alternatives to animal products should be considered if we believe that animals have the right to live free of suffering.

Animal rights activists are very strong in what they believe in. Here are the things that animal rights advocates believe in.

Animals are conscious beings, not machines or objects. Animals have interests of their own. Human beings should respect the interest of animals. Exploitation of animals by human beings is disregarding their rights. Treating animals as objects disregards their rights by human beings. Killing animals is depriving animals of their right to live.

It takes volumes to really cover the scope of animals rights.
